These 5 Malaysian Employers Hired The Most Number of Career Comeback Women in 2017

Our winners with Dato' Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.
In a world where the race for technology pits countries against one another, never has the call for an increased participation rate of women contributing to our economy been louder. According to a McKinsey & Company report[1] published in 2012, better gender parity for Malaysia would mean increasing our nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by RM3 billion.
However, while women represent about half the nation's population and 62 per cent of public university,[2] this has not translated into improving women's participation rates in our workforce. Unlike its counterparts in East Asia, the labour participation profile for Malaysian women by age does not display a 'double peak'. This means that the women who leave the workforce, often do not return to work again.

That is why it is important that more family-friendly policies are needed in order to attract our women back to work. Greater flexible work arrangements (FWA) will enable women to balance their priorities between juggling work and caring for their families.
Ahimmat bin Mydin, Executive Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (6th from left) receives an award on behalf of his organisation for being supportive towards the national woman agenda.
